Our local church leadership includes the following committees with the Church Council and the Annual All Church Conference as our leading body.
Church committees according to book of discipline (BOD).
Church Council
The United Methodist Church Council plays a central role in the life of a local church, responsible for planning and implementing a program of nurture, outreach, witness, and resources. It oversees the administration of the church’s organizational and temporal life, ensuring alignment with the church's mission and ministry. Key responsibilities include:
- Nurture Ministries: Focus on education, worship, and membership care.
- Outreach Ministries: Engage with local and larger community ministries of compassion and advocacy.
- Witness Ministries: Strengthen evangelistic efforts and share personal and congregational stories.
- Leadership Development: Prepare and develop lay and clergy leaders for ministry.
The council meets quarterly and is composed of members who represent various ministries and are accountable to the charge conference. Meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7 pm in the Conference Room (Room 16).
Board of Trustees
The United Methodist Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing the property and physical assets of a local church. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and reviewing the church’s property insurance and ensuring upkeep of the parsonage.
- Administering bequests made to the church and overseeing specific trusts, foundations, and investments.
- Conducting annual accessibility audits of the church building and grounds to ensure full accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
- Recommending improvements to make the church more inclusive and welcoming.
The board typically consists of a small group of trustees, with a balanced representation of both genders and a mix of lay and clergy members, ensuring diverse perspectives and expertise.
This committee is the official legal entity of our church. It is responsible for the physical plant of the church. This includes the general maintenance, repair, and landscaping. Members serve 3 years. Meets monthly on the 2nd Thursday at 6:30 pm in the Conference Room (Room 16).
Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)
The United Methodist Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) is responsible for building strong relationships between staff and the congregation, ensuring the congregation makes disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The committee works with the lead pastor and staff to fulfill legal and ethical responsibilities related to staff. Members should possess spiritual gifts such as exhortation, wisdom, discernment, administration, shepherding, helping, servanthood, and leadership. The committee is diverse in age, experience, and interests, bringing all interests of the ministry to the attention of the staff. It is also responsible for maintaining confidentiality and engaging in biblical and theological reflection about the mission of the church and biblical leadership. The committee encourages, strengthens, nurtures, supports, and respects the pastor(s) and staff and their families, helping them set priorities and ensuring a healthy life-work balance.
Members serve for 3 years and may serve an additional term of 3 years. Meets monthly on the 1st Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the Conference Room (Room 16).
Finance Committee
The United Methodist Finance Committee is responsible for managing the congregation's financial resources. Key responsibilities include:
- Proposing and managing a budget to support the congregation's mission and ministry.
- Raising, managing, and distributing financial resources, including tithing and fundraising.
- Compiling a complete budget annually and submitting it to the church leadership team for review and adoption.
- Ensuring stewardship of financial resources and recommending fund allocations for specific purposes.
Committee members should possess skills in financial management, communication, and stewardship, and they may include the financial secretary, treasurer, and other church leaders.
Meets monthly on 2nd Thursday at 10:15 am in the Conference Room (Room 16).
Nominations Committee
The United Methodist Nominations Committee is responsible for identifying, developing, and nominating leaders for various positions within the church. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring Spiritual Leadership: The committee evaluates the spiritual leadership of the congregation to fulfill the church's mission and vision.
- Identifying Candidates: It works with the church council to identify qualified candidates for leadership roles and recommends new positions as needed.
- Fostering Diversity: The committee should reflect the diversity of the congregation, including a range of ages, genders, and races.
- Meeting Structure: The committee typically meets several times a year to gather information and make nominations for the charge conference.
This committee plays a crucial role in ensuring that the church has leaders who are spiritually mature and capable of fulfilling the church's mission.
Members of the committee shall engage in and be attentive to developing and enhancing their own Christian spiritual life in light of the mission of the Church. Members can serve only for 3 years. Meets every month on 2nd Tuesday as needed.
Committees of the local church.
Youth Group
At this time, we do not have anyone to lead a youth group (could this be you?), we do offer Sunday School. This is an opportunity to help children learn about God and Jesus love for them. Teachers and parent helpers from Nursery through 5th Grade join together to build a foundation of godly character in children through Bible stories, drama, music, and age-appropriate Bible lessons.
Sunday School is held from 10:15 to 11:00 am.
United Women in Faith
This committee is a community of women of the church whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the Church. Meetings are in the Fireside room on the last Saturday of the month at 10am. We also sponsor a Clothes Closet every Wednesday from 2-4pm.
Men's Group
This group is a creative, supportive fellowship of men seeking to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually, and to seek and do His will. We meet at Brook's Ranch for breakfast at 7am on the first Saturday of the month, after breakfast we continue our fellowship while doing work projects at and around the church. Women are welcome to help.
Worship Committee
Responsibilities of the Worship Committee The leader of the committee will:
• Become a lifelong learner about Christian worship in general and United Methodist worship in particular.
• Convene and coordinate the leaders of key lay worship ministries in your congregation (altar guild, Communion stewards, lay readers, acolytes, liturgists, ushers, or others).
• Lead these leaders to recruit and train people for their various ministries.
• Communicate regularly with the pastor and other worship leaders to ensure they have the implements and supplies they need for worship.
• Be aware of existing policies about worship and the use of worship space and lead the committee to revise or develop new policies that may be needed or requested.
• Participate in the worship planning team if there is one. Your role on the worship planning team may be to help them access the resources and coordinate the lay worship ministries needed for the worship they plan. A member of this committee may:
• Become a lifelong learner about Christian worship in general and United Methodist worship in particular.
• Get to know the people and the gifts of people in your congregation and community so your team can invite them to offer their gifts in worship.
• Collaborate with the other members of the worship planning team, if there is one, as they plan and design worship.
• Expand and support the use of arts, music, and technology.
• Live in covenant with other members of the worship committee to be accountable for your personal spiritual formation, your learning, the ways you connect with the congregation and community, and the quality of your work on the team.

Membership Care Committee
The United Methodist Membership Care Committee is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the church's nurture, outreach, and witness ministries. This committee ensures that the church's mission and ministry are effectively carried out, addressing the needs of individuals and families of all ages. The committee's responsibilities include:
- Nurturing ministries: Focus on education, worship, Christian formation, membership care, small groups, and stewardship.
- Outreach ministries: Address local and larger community ministries of compassion, justice, and advocacy.
- Witness ministries: Strengthen evangelistic efforts and share personal and congregational stories of Christian experience, faith, and service.
- Leadership development: Prepare and develop lay and clergy leaders for the church's ministry.
The committee's membership may consist of as few as eleven persons or as many as the charge conference deems appropriate, including the pastor(s) and other program ministry representatives. The council is amenable to and functions as the administrative agency of the charge conference, overseeing the church's organization and temporal life.

Christian Education Committee
The United Methodist Christian Education Committee is responsible for guiding the educational programs within the church. Its key responsibilities include:
- Providing quality programming for youth and encouraging regular teacher training.
- Overseeing the education budget and ordering materials for educational programs.
- Promoting and planning events such as Sunday School and Christian Education Sunday.
- Encouraging participation from all individuals in the educational life of the church.
- Assisting the pastor with acolyte training and other educational initiatives.
The committee meets bi-monthly or as needed to plan and implement educational goals.
Meets on the last Sunday of the month or as needed.
Memorial Committee
The United Methodist Memorial Committee is responsible for recognizing and distributing gifts received in memory of members and friends of the church. Its key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining an accurate record of memorial contributions.
- Assuring the use of contributions in accordance with the desires of the contributors or the family of the deceased.
- Assisting the pastor in recommending appropriate uses for un-designated memorial funds on a yearly basis.
- Meeting as needed to handle the distribution of gifts.
This committee plays a crucial role in honoring the memory of those who have passed away while ensuring that their contributions are utilized effectively for the church's mission.

Endowment Committee
The United Methodist Endowment Committee is responsible for establishing and managing a Permanent Endowment Fund within the church. This committee is accountable to the Charge Conference and is subject to all the provisions of The Book of Discipline (2016). The committee's role includes:
- Establishing a Permanent Endowment Fund: The committee develops a statement detailing the reasons for establishing a Permanent Endowment Fund and presents it to a Charge Conference for approval.
- Committee Membership: The committee is composed of nine voting members, with staggered terms to ensure diversity and representation.
- Investment and Administration: The committee is responsible for the investment and administration of the endowment fund, ensuring it aligns with the Social Principles and the creation of an investment policy.
- Public Events and Donor Recognition: The committee maintains a listing of potential donors and administers a donor recognition program.
- Legal and Evaluation: The committee reviews basic documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and conducts annual evaluations of the endowment program.
The Endowment Committee plays a crucial role in supporting the church's mission through long-term financial planning and stewardship.
